QRME awarded 10 rural health scholarships through Govt program
QUEENSLAND Rural Medical Education is pleased to announce applications have opened for 10 scholarships in Cert IV Allied Health Assistance across their regional campuses of Toowoomba, Dalby, Kingaroy, Stanthorpe and Warwick.
The scholarships are part of the Federal Government’s Destination Australian Program, which seeks to attract and support international and domestic students to study in regional Australia and better support regional Australian tertiary education providers.
In the official notification of the 10 scholarships to QRME the Honourable Dan Tehan MP, Minister for Education congratulated QRME “on your commitment to support regional Australia, and encouraging growth of our great regions.”
QRME CEO Megan OShannessy said, “We are delighted to be a successful applicant in the Destination Australia Program and the financial support will greatly assist in delivering our Cert IV Allied Health Assistance qualification. The Destination Australia Program is a fantastic way to highlight the importance of continued growth in regional health education.”
The QRME awarded scholarships will run over two years and will be a great start to a rural health career.
Maranoa MP David Littleproud said, “This scholarship – running over two years – is going to help a health student get a leg up into a great career serving rural communities.
“Apart from helping students get the necessary skills for a job, these scholarships help support local businesses and promote Maranoa as an attractive study destination because of our lifestyle, cost of living and smaller class size.
“Our region is a great place to live and enticing health students to study in the bush is a proactive way to improve health outcomes for locals.
