If you’re ever wondered what goes on inside a hock shop, you’re in luck. This long-running series takes viewers inside the colourful world of the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop located on the outskirts of Las Vegas, where owner Rick Harrison, his son Corey (aka Big Hoss) and his childhood mate Austin “Chumlee” Russell spend their days rummaging through people’s trash and treasure for a living. In tonight’s season premiere, Rick tests a Civil War revolver, Chum gets excited when a personal piece of memorabili­a from LeBron James comes through the doors and the lads hit the road to score some unique motorcycle­s.

BRAIN GAMES National Geographic 613, 6.30pm

This provocativ­e series challenges some of the world’s biggest celebritie­s to realise their special brain power through fun and highly entertaini­ng interactiv­e games, illusions and social experiment­s that will reveal the “why” behind the “wow”. In tonight’s episode, married couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are put through their paces by host Keegan Michael Key (pictured) and world-famous mentalist Lior Surchard as they go head-to-head in a series of trials designed to show how the brains of men and women differ. If you’ve ever wondered about the incredible science behind how our brains tick, you’re in for a rollicking good time. The best news: you can play along at home, too.

BURDEN OF TRUTH Fox One 101, 6.30pm

In this first season of this Canadian drama attorney Joanna Hanley (Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk, pictured) walked away from her partnershi­p at a corporate law firm to figure out why a mysterious illness was afflicting high-school girls in her hometown of Millwood. In tonight’s season two premiere, Joanna is living a new life at a new law firm with a new name when she’s assigned a new case involving a brilliant young internet privacy activist who will turn everything in her new life upside down. Meanwhile, back in Millwood, Billy Crawford (Peter Mooney) is dealing with the aftermath of the Matheson Steel lawsuit.

THAILAND’S WILD SIDE Nat Geo Wild 622, 8.30pm

This two-part series follows the fortunes of some of Thailand’s most charismati­c and exotic creatures as they bring up their young, search for partners and fight for survival, all set against the stunning backdrop of Thailand’s picturesqu­e jungles, mountains and wetlands. Tonight’s episode, titled “The Hunting Game”, follows a variety of critters locked in a deadly battle either to capture or evade, while others must rely on their wits, guile and tenacity to find food. In next week’s episode, viewers will learn all about the mating rituals of peacocks, cranes, macaques, elephants and more in their quest to breed and raise offspring.
