A DOZEN hospitals, regional service centres and aged-care homes in southwest Queensland will be upgraded and repaired this year, after tenders were sent out earlier this month.

The South West Hospital and Health Service has revealed public facilities in Roma, Charleville, Surat, Injune, Quilpie, Morven, Thargomindah, Wallumbilla, St George, Cunnamulla, Mitchell and Authathella will receive electrical and airconditioning upgrades.

SWHHS acting CEO Samantha Edmonds said tenders for the 13 projects would close in early February.

“Currently, the health service has around 13 such routine projects out to tender, all closing on February 4, and all being project-managed for the health service by QBuild Roma,” she said.

“As all these projects are currently still open for tender, the project values are commercial in confidence.

“The work is being offered in multiple packages to improve opportunities for local contractors by having smaller work packages rather than one single offer.

“The works include airconditioning replacement and upgrades at Augathella, Mitchell and the Waroona Aged Care Facility at Charleville.

“We also have tendered for various electrical upgrades at Westhaven Aged Care Facility at Roma, Waroona Aged Care Facility at Charleville, at the Surat, Injune and Quilpie Multi-Purpose Health Services, Morven, Thargomindah and Wallumbilla Community Clinics, the St George dental clinic and the Cunnamulla Primary Healthcare Centre.”

Ms Edmonds said the SWHHS regularly upgraded its public buildings across the region.
