Football clinics to start in Toowoomba
Football Queensland has announced it will embark on a road trip next month to deliver clinics and workshops to Queenslanders across the state.
The FQ team will travel to 10 locations in regional and metro Queensland as part of the statewide 2020 FQ Road Trip, kicking off on February 12 in Toowoomba.
Following the success of the 2018 and 2019 MiniRoos Road Trip, this year’s FQ Road Trip will provide opportunities for more Queenslanders across the state to get involved in clinics and workshops tailored for players, referees, coaches and local clubs.
Participation clinics delivered for players and referees will include Walking Football and women and girls come-and-try sessions, running alongside MiniRoos and Introduction to Referees clinics.
A number of coach and club development workshops will also follow the clinics in each location.

Road Trip would provide opportunities for even more Queenslanders to give football a go.
“We can’t wait to get back on the road again this year and visit locations across the state to deliver workshops and clinics for local participants and clubs,” Allan said.
“While our previous road trips have focused on MiniRoos participation, we’re really excited this year to be able to offer a wider range of sessions for players of all ages, plus referees, coaches and local clubs.
“With the Walking Football and women and girls comeand-try sessions running alongside the MiniRoos and referee clinics in each location, the whole family can come along to give football a go.”
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said the whole of football approach to the FQ Road Trip this year followed the release of the 2020-2022 strategic plan for football in Queensland.
“As outlined in our strategic plan, a key priority for Football Queensland over the next three years will be to grow the game by increasing the number of participants and strengthening our clubs across the state,” Cavallucci said.
“We’re really pleased to be able to travel to nine of our zones to showcase our game and give local players and referees an introduction to football.
“We will also be providing education and development opportunities for coaches and local clubs by delivering workshops in each location, as we work to provide increased support for our clubs across Qld.”
