BIBLE THOUGHT

-

“But showed first to them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.” (Acts 26:20 AKJV) Repentance is more than just saying the words. Repentance requires a change of heart and actions. succeeded as George VI (1936-52). The ex king married her and they were subsequently created Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

There was talk, not unfounded it seems, that Mrs Simpson and Edward were openly supportive of Hitler’s regime and the Duke and Duchess travelled to Germany before the outbreak of WWII to meet him. The Nazis apparently planned to reinstate Edward as a puppet king after they defeated Britain. In related matters, Wallis supposedly passed vital government information to the Germans and the man who was allegedly her lover, Hitler’s Foreign Minister von Ribbentrop.

Anyway, I believe parallels with 1936 are now being seen with Prince Harry and Meghan. I commented when they married it would be a bad decision – as others also thought – and it would appear this opinion has been borne out. I believe we have seen Mrs Simpson “reincarnated” in Prince Harry’s choice.

As was the case with Edward and Wallis, Harry and Meghan, from the outset, rejected royal protocol and standards – their wedding was, in my opinion, more akin to a pop concert than a royal occasion. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor lived out their lives in exile in France. Perhaps it would be best if the Royal Family “divorced” Harry and Meghan. ROGER DESHON, Toowoomba
