GOLF: It will be remembered as one of the greatest finishes in the history of the Qld PGA Championships – and one caddie Snow Green will never forget.

Green was on the losing side – carrying the bag for Scott Arnold – but the keen Toowoomba golfer was glad he could be part of the fourhole playoff thriller.

“It’s some of the best golf I have ever seen,” Green said.

“The pressure, the atmosphere, the fact it was two great golfers and mates fighting it out was amazing.

“I was caddie for Foxie (Ryan Fox) when he won it in 2015 and Nick (Cullen) in 2013 which are some of my favourite moments, and this finish is right up there as well.”

Michael Sim won the

2020 Coca-Cola Qld PGA Championship ahead of Arnold with a par on the fourth playoff hole after the pair finished the day tied at -12.

It could’ve been a lot different though had leader Brad Kennedy not capitulated late in the day.

Having led the competition from day one, Kennedy bogeyed the 17th hole and double bogeyed the last hole to give away his lead.

Back in the clubhouse at -12, Green said he and Arnold were straight back on to the practice green when they witnessed Kennedy’s collapse and Sim’s surge.

“It was Brad’s to win,” Green said.

“No doubt he’ll be hurting after the way the day ended for him.

“Scott was back on the practice green and in the nets for a few shots once we knew it was going to a playoff.

“Over the four playoff holes, the focus for Scott was about sticking to the process – picking the same clubs, keeping the same process.

“It’s a shame Scott (Arnold) didn’t win, but it was pretty exciting to be part of it.

“They both stuck at it right until the end.”

Green first took up caddying at the event in 2012 and said the tournament had gone from strength to strength.

“I’m probably enjoying caddying a little more than playing at the moment,” he said.

“All of the players I caddie for are good mates, and they always talk about how much they love coming here.

“City (Golf Club) deserves a lot of credit, without their support I don’t think we’d have the Qld PGA, certainly not at the standard it is now.

“It’s a fantastic event and a great thing for Toowoomba to be able to host.”
