CRICKET: After two consecutive weekends of heavy rain saw round six cancelled without a ball being bowled, play is set to resume tomorrow in the TCI A-grade competition.

With just two rounds of play remaining, four teams remain a hope of collecting the final two finals spots on offer, with Western Districts having all-but secured the minor premiership.

Metropolitan-Easts (74.46 points) and Northern Brothers Diggers (74.26) are in the box seat to take out second and third, however University (61.14) and Highfields-Railways (52.25) remain in the picture.

Coincidentally, all four teams will meet this weekend in a round seven that could seal the fate of the finals race.

It starts with University and Met-Easts who will clash at USQ, as the two look to replicate their round two thriller.

On that occasion the Trojans

prevailed with first innings points, claiming a 27run win after University fell agonisingly short of the total of 294.

Tough batting conditions plagued Northern Brothers Diggers and Highfields-Railways when they met earlier in the season, with the topfive batsmen from each team combining for just 41 runs in the first innings.

Diggers got away with a 35-run win and can push their claims for a secondplace finish if they can prevail at Highfields Sports Park, starting tomorrow.

Southern Districts will need to replicate their showing against the Trojans when they face powerhouse side Western Districts at Middle Ridge Park.
