Embracing an active lifestyle in the country
EAGER to embrace a more active, adventurous and social lifestyle without abandoning her country roots, Marg Poplawski made the move from her farm outside of Toowoomba to GemLife Highfields six months ago – and hasn’t looked back since.
Marg said her decision to move to the over-50s lifestyle resort was an easy one, feeling at home from the moment she first set foot in the resort.
“I found out about GemLife when I read an article about it in the newspaper, and my husband and I decided to take a look for ourselves,” Marg said.
“We found the location and overall atmosphere of GemLife very inviting,” she said.
Marg and her husband John have been making the most of their new lifestyle, which is full of social events and adventures.
“I love getting involved in all the activities and events on offer; I like keeping fit by taking linedancing classes or other activities such as step classes in the country club,” she said.
“GemLife is definitely not a retirement village – in fact, many people here are still working – it’s a place for active people who want a more social lifestyle.”

“All the facilities are fantastic, I particularly enjoy the library,” Marg said.
Marg and John have also been making the most of the lockup and go lifestyle of their low maintenance, right-size home by taking up travelling.
“We’ve been able to get away a lot more and we are planning a three-week-long driving tour of Tasmania,” she said.
“We love having the freedom to come and go as we like, and the security to lockup and go knowing that our home is safe.
“I wouldn’t live anywhere else.”
