Give opinion on road changes

-

IT’S time for residents to voice their opinions on future works on Toowoomba Connection Rd, previously the Warrego Hwy, in Withcott.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey encouraged the community to be part of the project planning.

“Since the Toowoomba Bypass opened last year, there has been a significant reduction in traffic, including trucks, driving through Withcott,”

Mr Bailey said.

“Changes to the road in this section of Withcott are necessary and we want to get it right.

“The reduction in traffic has provided an opportunity to look at safety improvements to the main intersections in Withcott.”

Mr Bailey said the current proposal included installing traffic lights at the Jones Rd intersection, adding turning lanes, and improving facilities for pedestrians and bike riding.

“The proposal also includes moving public transport to the bus interchange off Biggs Rd,” he said.

“The goal is to design a safer, more accessible road network for Withcott.

“We will focus on improving the north-south connectivity of Withcott by making it easier for residents, pedestrians and riders to cross Toowoomba Connection Rd.

“We have sent out notices to every home in Withcott, showing the plans and asking for their feedback.

“Once we have received and reviewed feedback, we will finalise plans and start sourcing funding for construction.”
