Wholesale distributors are on a roll supplying Toowoomba with toilet paper
IF YOU’RE searching for loo rolls, Toowoomba Wholesale Distributors is like a toilet paper paradise, with boxes of 48 rolls available to the public.
The bulk of TWD’s business is distributing products to businesses, but sales manager Brock Tuesley said the public was welcome.
He said foot traffic had increased significantly since the toilet paper crisis began.
“That walk-in trade has certainly increased,” Mr Tuesley said.
“A lot of people have been calling in asking if we’ve still got it. People are double checking before they come out.
“It’s toilet paper and hand sanitiser which is led by this coronavirus panic.”
Mr Tuesley said their general trade hadn’t changed much except for more businesses ordering hand sanitiser.
“All cafes, pubs, and kitchens need it,” he said.
“But as for toilet paper, it’s just trading as usual.
“Some businesses we’ve got have been ordering a few extra because they’re worried people are going to take it all.”
With a completely Australian supply chain, Mr Tuesley said customers did not need to worry about wholesale distributors running out of toilet paper.
“Ours is Australian manufactured. We try and keep all of our supply chain as local as possible for this reason, plus it supports the economy,” he said.
“We have an ongoing supply with no kinks in that chain.
“We make a phone call and pick it up next morning. No matter how many pallets we sell in one day, we’ll be able to get it the next day.
“There’ll be no risk of it running low, no matter how long the scare goes on.”
Despite having a secure toilet paper supply, Mr Tuesley said hand sanitiser suppliers were beginning to struggle.
“Our chemist who is based in Brisbane cannot keep enough hand sanitiser up to Toowoomba for us to distribute,” he said.
“The little bottles the sanitiser comes in come across from China.
“They have barrels and barrels of sanitiser ready to go, but they can’t get it into bottles.”
Mr Tuesley said TWD had sold a huge number of pallets of hand sanitiser in the past week, as well as pallets of toilet paper.
