1. OPEN WARDROBE

WHEN: Today, 10am

WHERE: Gip’s Restaurant, 120 Russell St

ENJOY a quick morning tea and fashion parade at Gip’s Restaurant before heading to Protea Place for the monthly open wardrobe event. Bring your friends, load up your bags full of beautiful bargains and support Protea Place as they support women in need.

2. BACK TO THE 80S NIGHT

WHEN: Today, 7pm

WHERE: Bar Wunder

CRACK out your craziest 80s-inspired outfit and start rehearsing your best rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart for bar Wunder’s 80s revival. There will be a talent show, karaoke, plenty of dancing and prizes to be won.

3. JAZZ UNDER THE STARS

WHEN: Today, 4.30pm

WHERE: Toowoomba Anglican School BE entertaine­d by some big jazz sounds as musicians from eight local high schools, in addition to the Australian Army Band Brisbane’s Big Band, gather for a drought relief concert.

There will be a bar, barbecue and cafe for refreshmen­ts and entry is $5. Bring along a blanket or chair to sit on.

4. ICE CREAM DECORATING

WHEN: Today, 10am-noon WHERE: Wendy’s Grand Central BRING the kids along to Wendy’s at Grand Central (near Kmart on ground level) for some fun decorating their very own ice-cream. Wendy’s will supply the ice-cream, lollies and all the fun for free, so we’ll all be screaming for ice-cream!

5. LIT FESTIVAL

WHEN: Today and tomorrow, various times

WHERE: Various locations

SEE bold and colourful light projection­s, lanterns, installati­ons and performanc­es throughout the CBD as part of the LIT Festival: Stories in Light. From giant inflatable rabbits at Grand Central Shopping centre to a projection display in the Bell St Mall, there will be no shortage of wonderful spectacles to dazzle the senses.

6. OAKEY SHOW

WHEN: Today, 8am-10pm

WHERE: Oakey Showground­s ENJOY a family day out at the 112th Oakey Show.

Check out Sideshow Alley, jump on some rides, admire the amazing pavilion displays and animal shows, catch shows by Reptile Kingdom and camp oven cooking demonstrat­ions by Ranger Nick. The official show opening will be at 10.30am by John McVeigh MP.

7. MINI TRAIN RIDES

WHEN: Tomorrow, 11am-4pm WHERE: Lemway Park, Kearneys

TAKE advantage of some of the last warm weather we’re likely to get before the autumn really sets in and take the family for some miniature steam train rides.

Rides are $2 or $18 for a 10-ticket book.

Wear enclosed footwear for safety.

8. VAISAKHI MELA

WHEN: Today, 5pm

WHERE: Centenary State High School hall

JOIN Toowoomba’s Punjabi community for its second annual Vaisakhi Mela celebratio­n. Vaisakhi is a harvest and religious festival celebrated in the Punjab region of India.

Come along and enjoy a free evening of fun, food and cultural activities.

9. HIGH ALTITUDE ROD RUN

WHEN: Tomorrow, 9am-1pm WHERE: TAFE car park, Lindsay St ADMIRE some beautiful hot rods and visit the trade and accessory stalls for your own project.

There will be live music by The Zephyr Project, a jumping castle, food, coffee, fashion and a scale model display. Entry is free.

10. ST PATRICK’S PARADE

WHEN: Tomorrow, 10am

WHERE: Irish Club Hotel CELEBRATE your Irish heritage or just join the fun and get decked out in your finest green gear for Toowoomba’s annual St Patrick’s Day Parade. Assemble from 10am at the Irish Club Hotel car park in Station St ahead of the parade kicking off at 10.30am. There will be lollies for the kids and pints for the parents.
