GREEN GAME-CHANGER

- Lucy Cocoran whimn.com.au

Being a plant parent is a seriously underrated job. Don’t give them enough love and they die. Love them too much and they die.

Sure there’s the basics like sunlight and watering but then you’ve got leaf-stroking and soil treatments to contend with.

In fact, it’s almost unanimously been decided that the best approach is moderate levels of affection with an air of aloofness.

Plants seem to love it when you play hard to get. Anyway, I digress.

In case it all goes south and your plant is headed down the road of no return, there’s now a solution that doesn’t involve weeping over its lifeless pot. Take your plant corpse to Bunnings and they’ll actually offer you a replacement or refund, under their Perfect Plant Promise policy.

As it turns out, this policy has been around for quite some time but barely anyone knew about it.

The policy recently went viral on Facebook and Bunnings is now probably cursing the power of the internet.

The promise basically states that shoppers can return their dead plants within 12 months, as long as they bring their receipt.

“All our plants (except seedlings) are guaranteed for 12 months. If you’re not 100 per cent happy, return your plant (with receipt or tax invoice) and we’ll refund it.”

Plants will be examined on a case-by-case basis so you probably won’t qualify if you’re whining over one brown leaf.

We’re assuming the plant will have to be in a pretty dire condition to warrant a replacement, so you better be sure it’s looking pretty sad.

Unsurprisingly, people of the plant world were pretty stoked with the discovery.

This policy is a game-changer for serial plant killers.

It’s safe to assume there’s going to be a hefty line outside the store now that we’ve discovered this plant promise.

So, if you’re planning on taking your wilting plant back for a refund, be smart and do it on a Saturday.

That way, you can snag a sizzle (or five) while you mourn your loss.
