Last day to secure finals spots

- SEAN TEUMA

CRICKET: It all comes down to this.

The final day of the TCI Agrade regular season will take place across Toowoomba today, as teams look to book their spot in the finals.

Western Districts have top spot secured, and are currently engaged in a tight battle with Metropolitan-Easts, who can lock in second spot with a first innings win.

The Trojans are at the crease currently at 3/7, chasing a score of 120 for victory at Captain Cook Reserve.

Highfields-Railways are poised to secure just the second outright win of the season in their fixture against Southern Districts at Middle Ridge Park.

Souths are currently 5/24 in its second innings, still 24 runs behind the total of the Bulldogs.

Northern Brothers Diggers need another 113 runs to claim first innings honours over University.

They will commence the day at 3/71 at Rockville Oval, with a win almost certainly ensuring they keep their spot in the finals.

Play commences at 12.15pm.

BEST CASE SCENARIOS

METROPOLITANEASTS: A first innings win, or no result guarantees they finish second. If they are to lose on first innings, they will then hope for University to beat Northern Brothers Diggers.

NORTHERN BROTHERS DIGGERS: A first innings win over University all-but guarantees them of a finals spot. A Mets loss to Wests can see them move into second.

HIGHFIELDS-RAILWAYS: Need to win outright over Souths to keep their hopes alive and a Diggers loss to University.

UNIVERSITY: Need to defeat Northern Brothers Diggers and hope Souths defeat Highfields-Railways to have a chance.
