Where to pre-poll for vote

-

EARLY voting is now open for the Toowoomba Regional Council election – here’s where you can have your say.

Pre-polling for the local government vote began yesterday and will continue through until Friday, March 27.

The early voting centres are situated at:

■ Oakey Customer Service Centre, 64 Campbell St, Oakey

■ Pittsworth Service Centre, 85 Yandilla St, Pittsworth

■ Railway Goods Shed, Victoria St

■ Ruthven Central Shopping Centre, Tenancy 4, 692 Ruthven St, South Toowoomba

■ Toowoomba Regional Council, 25 Emu Creek Rd, Crows Nest

■ Toowoomba Regional Council Millmerran, 2 – 16 Campbell St, Millmerran

Each of the polling centres will open from 9am-5pm this week, and extend their hours to 9am-6pm next week.

The Electoral Commission of Queensland will implement a range of new measures for people attending early voting centres and polling booths to vote in-person.

This includes sourcing additional supplies of hand sanitiser for use by voters at polling booths. Due to high levels of demand, these supplies are expected to be available at early voting centres by midweek.

Voters are also encouraged to bring their own pen or pencil with them to vote as an additional hygiene precaution.

Other measures will include additional cleaning of polling booth areas and extra staff employed at polling booths to assist with queue control and monitoring numbers of people in attendance.

The local government election will be held on Saturday, March 28.
