KIRSTEN Smolenski is a successful business owner of more than 20 years, mother of five children and a champion of community engagement.

Growing up in a small country town, Kirsten has now lived in Toowoomba for the past 30 years.

She has a strong understand­ing of our region, broad experience within profession­al management, and real motivation to enhance the attributes of our communitie­s.

With a focus on the progressio­n, prosperity, and viability of our region, Kirsten would strive to enhance the opportunit­ies – from country towns to city – for business, infrastruc­ture, tourism and natural environmen­t; ultimately striving for the betterment of our diverse and unique region.

Kirsten trained and worked as a registered nurse, giving her a valuable insight to the vast aspects of the community, before starting work with the family building company which she and her husband commenced in 2000.

She has been managing this challengin­g role while also being a very active member of school communitie­s.

She has been on the executive committees for many years, giving valuable exposure to the educationa­l, sporting and arts facilities around this region.

Kirsten is also studying law part-time at our regional University of Southern QueensTHE land.

Kirsten believes the council must reflect the people of the region, with diversity, inclusiven­ess and vitality, reflecting country regions as well as city centres.

She strongly believes that whoever sits at the council table must be a proven team player, allowing cohesivene­ss and ensuring the correct decisions are made for the region.
