A voice for the community
A VOTE for Garry Humphries is a vote for new progressive ideas; a focus on better supporting community groups with increased grants.
It’s a vote for improved liveability with a major water park development and supercharging tourism by growing attractions like the Carnival of Flowers and the Jondaryan Woolshed, as well as by facing the realities of environmental change with ensuring our water security and responsible stewardship of the environment.
I am a truly independent candidate so I can work with all sides of State and Federal politics.
Being self-funded I don’t owe any favours – the only people I owe loyalty to are YOU, the community.
When voting for a candidate I look for two things: the skills to run a large enterprise like Council and a long history of being involved in a community.
I would bring both of these qualities to Council, holding a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) along with other qualifications in community development and major events.
I also have over three decades of experience at senior management levels in large organisations.
I know how Council should be run and how it could run better, faster and with lower rates.
I have always volunteered to serve the community in sports clubs, community groups, the education and disability sectors and, most recently, as Chairman of the Board for PCYC (Police Citizens Youth Clubs) – a $90m charity, preventing crime and helping over 80,000 youth every year.
One of my proudest achievements was co-founding SWIN (South West Indigenous Network), a community group dedicated to helping some of the most isolated and disadvantaged kids in the bush.
You can rely on me to be there when needed, qualities I learnt as an Army Engineer Officer (ARES) and veteran of Disaster Recovery Operations across Queensland and as recipient of the National Disaster Medal for services to Toowoomba during the 2011 floods.
Look for me at number 21 on the ballot paper.
