THA hopeful of season back underway in May
see whether changes will alter our decision to start on May 2.
“We look at it at the moment that the risk is low at this point in time for us playing, but one of the things is that this is a one-stop shop. All of our games are played here (Clyde Park).
“We looked at the welfare and health of our members, their families and friends and put that as the highest priority, which was where the decision was made to suspend play.”
Schasser said no decision had yet to be made on the status of competitions moving forward, however he did expect there to be fixture changes made to the Iron Jack Challenge.
“That is probably what will happen, but at this point in time we are still having discussions as to what the season and fixtures will look like,” he said.
“There are still some state titles that are going ahead at this point in time, so we still have to look at selections, processes and all that.
“We will be coming out with those details down the track.
“We’re hoping that it will restart soon, but we can only go on the information we’re given by health authorities.”
The ruling takes into account all Toowoomba Hockey Association fixtures from A1 men and women right down to juniors.
TENNIS
The committee of the Toowoomba Tennis Association has met today and, given the current information that is available, have agreed with the decision by Tennis Australia and therefore have suspend any organised competition at the centre until further notice,” TTA president Allan Smythe said.
“The decision was not an easy one to make but we believe these precautions are in the interest of the health and wellbeing of our community.
“The suspension includes all junior (1 round and finals), senior (3 rounds) and veterans’ (1 round) fixtures.
“The committee will meet again on April 14 (prior to the start of fixtures following the Easter break) to discuss and decide on the recommencement date of all fixtures utilising the up-to-date information at that time.
“We realise this may cause inconvenience in the shortterm however, our objective is ensuring our community remains healthy and strong.”
