Pixie continues hot run

- SEAN TEUMA

RACING: The Michael Cahill and Team Sears combination has been running hot in recent times, and the trio combined for another winner at Clifford Park yesterday.

Little Miss Pixie ($2.50) was sent out as the first favourite of the day in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110m), and duly saluted for her supporters.

Cahill was able to sit just behind the speed on the filly, with a gap presenting upon turning for home.

The class hoop took full advantage, hitting the front with 75m to go to down the well supported Dragon Miss ($2.70) by a neck.

It gave Cahill his sixth win from his last 16 starters for local trainers Tony and Maddysen Sears.

The combination combined for their second of the day as Terrius ($11) proved far too strong in the second edition Benchmark 62 Handicap (1640m).

The three-year-old found the front and booted away in the straight, scoring by six and a half lengths.

The father-daughter duo had the favourite in the second event on the card, the Maiden Plate (1210m).

Rostrum ($1.95) jumped to the front and held the lead, but was unable to fend off the charge of Miraclesfromheaven ($3.70), who received a gem of a ride from Jake Bayliss to score by two and threequarter lengths.

Mishani Blossom ($1.60 fav) relished the drop in class to demolish her opposition in the first running of the Benchmark 62 Handicap (1640m) for trainer Mark Currie.

Brad Stewart slotted the filly in the one out, one back position, before peeling out at the 700m and putting the event beyond any doubt.

She found another gear, racing away to score by a clean seven lengths.

It gave Stewart a double after Man In Motion ($2.70 fav) had an effortless win in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (870m).
