$80m in Lotto jackpot

TOOWOOMBA newsagents have been flat out this past week with two massive Lotto jackpots on offer.

Oz Lotto went off on Tuesday, with one lucky person winning $50 million.

But if you missed out, don’t worry – tonight’s Powerball has jackpotted to a massive $80 million.

For the fifth week in a row, no entry has held all the seven winning numbers and the all-important Powerball number needed to deliver division one.

The draw is the equal biggest Powerball jackpot offered so far this year.

It is also only the seventh time in the game’s 24-year history a jackpot of this size has been up for grabs.

NewsXpress on West at Westridge Shopping Centre owner, Melanie King, said her team had been run off its feet.

“We’ve been super busy because it’s been a week of double jackpots with the $50 million Oz Lotto and $80 million Powerball,” she said.

“Whenever the Lotto jackpots we are flat out that entire week leading up to the draw.

“The day of the draw is always the busiest though with lots of people believing that division one tickets are usually sold on the day, some sort of superstition I suppose.”

She said she felt her store was feeling lucky.

“We’ve had a couple of division two entries sold here at the end of last year so we are due for a division one win,” she said.

“We have fared really well during COVID, which has been lucky and I feel like our luck will continue.”

If one person pockets the entire division one prize it would only be the second time an individual had scored an $80 million Powerball prize.
