Theft startles woman

-

AS TOOWOOMBA mum Danielle Brown stepped outside her Rangeville home on Friday afternoon, she came upon a person allegedly stealing from her front yard.

Ms Brown said she had been on the phone when she heard a car pull into her driveway around 3.45pm.

“Someone had borrowed one of my cars, so I thought it was them,” Ms Brown said.

“I walked outside the front and saw a white (Toyota) Kluger in my driveway and a (person) running.”

Ms Brown said she saw a person run from the yard with her children’s two scooters clutched in their hands.

“I was shocked, they pulled further into the driveway to get away,” she said.

“I was screaming at them to stop because they almost hit our dog.

“I memorised the number plate and called the police.”

Ms Brown said her family lived on a cul-de-sac, making the crime more unusual.

“The kids are a bit shaken up about it, we haven’t really had any robberies in our neighbourhood,” she said.

“Because we live in a cul-desac we usually leave the bikes out in the front yard – it’s not really a street you would (randomly) go up.

“It’s a good lesson to lock up your valuables, I had left the keys in my Landcruiser because I had just got in.”

The whole incident was caught on a camera outside the house.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed the Kluger had been stolen from Chinchilla earlier that day.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
