-

MORT & Co has taken home two medals after competing at the 2020 Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show Branded Beef Competition.

The business’s Phoenix Beef brands Master Selection (a purebred and full-blood wagyu) and The Phoenix (F1F4 marbled wagyu), won a gold and bronze medal respectively at the competition, held at the Brisbane Showgrounds on Tuesday.

This result backed up the company’s recent success at the Australian wagyu Association Branded Beef Awards which saw Master Selection obtain three gold medals and The Phoenix receive two bronze.

Mort & Co meat sales and operations general manager Brett Williams said he was elated with the strong results.

“To achieve recognition in any branded beef competition in Australia is hugely satisfying given the quality of the beef that is produced here,” Mr Williams said.

“For our Phoenix Beef wagyu brands Master Selection and The Phoenix, it represents another strong showing.

“Over the last two years we have we have taken some significant steps forward in the consistency and quality of all our products.

“The regularity with which we are winning and medalling at these awards is proof that the processes and systems that we have implemented are delivering positive outcomes (for us).”

Now Mort & Co is preparing to compete in the Perth Royal Show Branded Meat Awards in October, its first time doing so.

Mr Williams said he hoped the business would continue its run of good results at the competition.
