New Tiger sees huge potential in squad

-

Ashley Harley knows exactly what success looks like, and the Toowoomba Tigers aren’t far away from it.

A member of the Cougars side that claimed a treble of premierships from 2016-18, Harley made the move across town for the year with University opting out of this year’s Allied Pickfords Cup.

“It’s been a completely different year, both in footy and life in general,” he said.

“I’ve really enjoyed the year at a different club and being able to see some new ways to go about things, play alongside different fellas and how different teams do things.

“I joined because of the love of footy. I didn’t want to miss out on having a game and the itch got too much. I had to have a run and needed to get back out there.”

The Tigers have yet to break through for a win in 2020 and sit last on the ladder.

It’s not an indication for how close they’ve been to the mark however, with three losses by five points or less, and getting within five goals of the Hawks in Goondiwindi.

“There’s a lot of potential in the club and a lot of young fellas coming through which is nice,” he said.

“The Tigers are definitely building in the right direction with Michael O’Donoghue as coach.

“We’re getting closer each and every week, and if the season was longer I think we’d start to do some damage. Hopefully we can put some good games together to finish the year.

“If we continue to stick to the plan, it’s going to turn our way. We have to buy in and commit, and we’ll get that bounce of the ball.”
