Different approach to appeal

-

NOW more than ever before, Toowoomba Legacy needs urgent help.

Toowoomba Legacy Inc. has continuously supported the widows and dependent children of deceased veterans since 1947.

This has only been possible because of the exceptional generosity of the public especially during its annual Badge Week appeal, which is usually held during the first week of September every year. You will have seen representatives, alongside the uniformed members of the Australian Defence Force, selling Legacy Badges in the various shopping centres throughout Toowoomba, Pittsworth, Dalby, Oakey, Highfields and Crows’ Nest.

After drought and bushfires, we had to face extreme regulations brought into play because of COVID-19.

As a result many who have faithfully donated to every year now find themselves suffering financial hardship.

Volunteers are all getting older, most of us are in the high-risk category for COVID-19, and as such should refrain from unnecessary community activities.

This year Legacy has had to plan its appeal differently. Instead of attending the shopping centres; and thereby not only, risking the generous members of the public but also, our volunteers, Legacy is asking the public to donate directly into its local bank account. The appeal will be extended through the month of September.
