With just one competition round remaining, Coolaroo showed it’s not a two-team competition with a blistering performance at the weekend.

Last year’s Allied Pickfords Cup grand finalists were dominant in a 18.12 (120) to 6.4 (40) defeat of Warwick at Rockville Oval.

“It’s nice to play four quarters. We were pretty ordinary the week we played Souths, so we knew we needed to play a consistent game,” coach Darren Copland said.

“We know our best is good enough for anyone in the competition, and we were pretty determined to put on a good show.”

In what was the first occasion Coolaroo cracked 100 points for the season, Samuel Copland (6 goals), Willem Baines (5) and Rob Baker (4) were all on fire in front of goals.

“We dominated, and our forward line played really well,” he said.

“We won it out of the middle, and it was clear that Sam, Will and Rob were our three best on ground.

“There was good delivery, service and finishing.”

It sets up a mouth-watering final round clash with Goondiwindi next weekend in a grand final rematch, with the Hawks needing a win to secure the minor premiership and an unbeaten regular season.

Goondiwindi retook top spot on the ladder after they grinded out a 10.8 (68) to 6.5 (41) victory against Dalby.

Needing a win to keep their hopes of a home semifinal alive, the Swans came out with intent early, leading by 10 after the first quarter and trailing by just nine at the main break.

They kept within three scores heading into the final term, before the Hawks closed out with four goals to seal the win.

South Burnett ensured a home final after keeping a stubborn Toowoomba at bay, coming out 10.18 (78) to 8.4 (52) winners at Lyle Vidler Oval.

A dominant first half saw the Saints lead by 39 at the main break, with the home side able to hold off a thirdquarter charge to come away with the win.

The loss rules the Tigers out of finals football. BOMBERS AND TIGERS CLEAR OUT

South Toowoomba and Toowoomba ensured they would claim the top two spots in the senior women’s competition with wins in their respective outings at the weekend.

The Bombers scored at a steady tempo, not giving Goondiwindi a chance in their 8.7 (55) to 1.1 (7) win in Dalby.

Chloe Crothers led the way with four goals, as the Bombers piled on the goals.

It was tougher work early for the Tigers away to South Burnett, before a strong second half saw them race out to a 6.7 (43) to 2.2 (14) victory.

The Tigers defence restricted their opponents to just two behinds in the second half, as Meg Pullinger kicked a game-high three majors.
