POLICE have charged Dwayne Thomas Andrew Watts with the murder of Mark Ireland.

They allege Watts, 29, used a long-bladed weapon to kill Mr Ireland, 54, striking him in the face and head. Paramedics were called to a home in Hope St, Warwick, shortly before 6pm on Wednesday where they found the critically injured Mr Ireland.

He died at the scene. Acting Detective

Superintendent David Briese said Watts was at the address when police arrived.

ACCUSED killer Dwayne Thomas Andrew Watts will be held in custody until December 7 after police charged him with the murder of Mark Ireland, 54.

Police alleged the pair had an argument at a Hope St address in Warwick, that ended with Ireland’s death.

Acting Detective Superintendent David Briese said Ireland sustained fatal wounds to his face and head from a “longbladed weapon.”

Emergency services attended the address to find Ireland dead, shortly before 6pm on Wednesday.

“At that location police took into custody a 29-year-old male,” Supt Briese.

“He was charged with one count of murder.”

Supt Briese said police would allege the deceased and the man charged over his death spent the afternoon together, along with several other people, who were assisting police.

“What their actual relationship is, I am not sure,” he said.

“At the house something has led to an argument between the two, a physical altercation, where the injuries were inflicted.”

Forensics investigators remained at the scene where they had recovered a weapon.

“We have some good information, with some really good work done by the detectives overnight to get to a point where we have charged the 29year-old man this morning,” he said.

“However, if anyone was in the area, lives close by or was driving in the area and they have seen or heard anything then we encourage them to come forward.”

Watts fronted the Warwick Magistrates Court yesterday.

His lawyer did not apply for bail at the adjournment.
