IT’S BEEN reimagined and recreated to suit a coronavirus era characterised by physical distancing and personal hygiene, but the Christmas Wonderland will be pushing ahead, and kicks off this weekend.

The Toowoomba CBD and regional towns in the region will be turning on their lights this Saturday, December 5.

The Lions Club of Toowoomba West, together with Toowoomba Regional Council, Grand Central, Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce, and the event committee has pulled together a light display that spans the Toowoomba CBD as well as other communities in the Toowoomba region.

As per usual, the event will encourage locals to give back and support three main beneficiaries – Toowoomba Hospice, Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld and Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

Project Chairman Marshall Cox said although COVID-19 changed many things in 2020,

the Lions Club of Toowoomba West was determined to provide some Christmas joy to the region in a time of need. “It just seemed right that we try and do all that we can to make sure our community get to experience the joy and wonder of Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland this festive season,” he said.

“I’d just like to wholeheartedly thank the Toowoomba Chamber, Toowoomba Regional Council, Grand Central and the business community for really embracing our reimagined event and putting their support behind our beneficiaries.”

Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland: Reimagined will light up the Toowoomba CBD from 7pm to 10pm each night from December 5 – 31.
