A group of ladies arrived at golf today, 1st December 2020, to play a Single Stableford. Winner with 41 points was Petae Frazer. 2nd place Lotte Pedersen 39 and 3rd Paula Heelan 37. The Longest Day is an endurance golf marathon designed to test your skill, strength and stamina. The challenge is to successfully complete 36 holes from dawn to dusk and raise funds for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services. In 2019 the Clifton Golf Club men successfully completed The Longest Day 72 holes challenge raising just under $3000 for the Cancer Council, so ladies lets exceed this and set the bar higher for the men in 2021. MyGolf Junior Clinics. The Clifton Golf Club has commenced MyGolf, the junior introductory program for golf. The remaining dates are as follows: 6/12/20, 13/12/20 which will be the Christmas Break Up. Cost will be $5 per session. Children must bring hat and water bottle. Equipment will be provided. The clinics will be 45 mins each starting at 8am. Max of 6 kids per clinic due to MyGolf Covid restrictions. All participants must pre book and social distancing must be adhered to. Friday December 4th 8.30am: Ladies Mixed Friday. The men are welcome to join the Ladies. Names in or be there by 8.00am. Saturday December 5th, 8.30am: Week 2 City Scroungers. This is a fresh and exciting format with up to four players per rink bowling 3 bowls each with the three nearest bowls scoring 3,2, and 1 points over 16 ends. The rink winners play off in a three-end final. Sunday December 6th, 12.30pm: Annual visit by Crows Nest Club. 21 players have nominated. Two games of 12 ends (3 bowl triples) with a short drinks break for half an hour after game 1. A sausage sizzle will follow Game 2. Green Fees – $15 per player. Bar roster – K Gleeson. Green keeping roster – Bill Hogan. Tuesday December 8th: 9.30am: Coaching/Practice/Roll-ups. Please note the earlier session time for Tuesday practice/roll-ups/coaching is 9.30am – 11.30am. This will continue for the whole of summer to avoid the heat of the afternoons. NOTE: If the temperature reaches 35o the coaching/roll-ups session will be cancelled. Saturdays City Scroungers – Round 1: Eleven bowlers took to the green for this round with BJ King taking out the win and the $25 cash prize. Round 2 is next Saturday. Sundays O’Brien Electrical Jackpot attracted 12 teams vying for the $300 jackpot on offer. After some close games the winners were BJ King and Bill Hogan. The $300 pot did not go off so jackpots to $348 for the next game. After six weeks, the club’s popular Tuesday Night Burger Bowls came to an end on 01 December. If you were one of the many that took part, we hope you enjoyed the experience, the prizes and the burgers. It’s planned to restart in the New Year so watch for adverts. The $1000 Association Singles Championship will commence on the weekend of December 12 and 13. Nominations close on December 4th. The Finals will be played at South Toowoomba headquarters. The Council Meeting set down for December 13 has been postponed to January 17, 2021.
