“For stony limits cannot hold love out, And what love can do, that dares love attempt.” On World Book Day, this line from Romeo and Juliet illustrates how love overcomes barriers. This weekend, as Mercury and Venus converge around Uranus, while linked to Saturn, breakthroughs in communication become possible as the walls separating hearts and minds become malleable. Rather than ending in Shakespearean tragedy, we can find inspiring ways to celebrate what we love.

ARIES MAR 21 – APR 20

Even in difficult moments, when you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, you’re capable of remarkable feats. When push comes to shove, and when the only option is to follow your instincts and hope for the best, you’re a good person to have around. You’re aware of your ingenuity. Just knowing that you’re able to think on your feet gives you a warm inner glow of courage. But that doesn’t mean you should exploit it. Your superpowers are precious. This weekend, use them only when (or if) you need to.

LEO JUL 24 – AUG 23

We do whatever we can to protect ourselves from the feelings of vulnerability that are part and parcel of life. We try to shield ourselves. Sometimes, we feel more secure when we hide behind a metaphorical mask; we may attempt to alter the way we look by changing the way we dress or the colour of our hair. Or, we might share our opinions so loudly that other people can’t see beyond our views. This weekend, it’s worth checking to see if a conflict is being intensified by a sense of mistaken identity. Much healing can occur.

SAGITTARIUS NOV 23 – DEC 21

They say that where there’s a will, there’s a way, and usually, they’re right. The problem comes when there’s more than one way. Or when someone exerts their will so strongly that they obliterate any other possibilities that stray into their path. Variety is the spice of life. Yet, in our impatience to gratify ourselves, we often opt for a quick sandwich, rather than wait for an experience that offers more flavoursome, healthy satisfaction. Instead of leaping to the most convenient conclusion, consider the alternatives this weekend.

TAURUS APR 21 – MAY 21

It’s all well and good to tell us to have faith, but just who are we supposed to have faith in? Friends? Family? The government? What if one or all of these have let us down? Was it just a oneoff? Should we forgive and forget? Or would that make us foolish and vulnerable? There’s never an easy answer to such questions. Yet, your present situation demands that you place your trust in someone or something, regardless of the consequences. Be brave enough to do so this weekend, and the cosmos will look after you.

VIRGO AUG 24 – SEP 23

Therapists come in a whole range of different shapes and styles. We can seek expert help with almost any of the issues that trouble us. If, for example, a couple can’t decide on the colour to paint the front room, they could call on a number of conflict resolution experts to help them with their decision. But wouldn’t it be simpler if they could just sit down and talk? As your ruler converges with Venus, as long as you stay openhearted and open-minded, an ongoing source of dispute can be resolved this weekend.

CAPRICORN DEC 22 – JAN 20

You know the saying, let sleeping dogs lie? It’s one of those pieces of wisdom that can’t really be questioned. Imagine what would happen if we did the opposite. If we went around waking up any dog we found asleep our world would be filled with the sound of barks and growls. Yet, although we all appreciate a sense of calmness in our lives, if there’s too much, it’s not just dogs who spend all their time sleeping. This weekend, your ruler, Saturn, encourages you to shake off a sense of tedium and have fun.

GEMINI MAY 22 – JUN 22

They tell us that we always hurt the people we love. Yet, if we ever upset our nearest and dearest, let’s hope we don’t do it on purpose. Maybe it happens because we’re so emotionally involved that we react inappropriately; that inwardly, we’re so aware of our vulnerability (and their ability to hurt us) that we respond in a less-controlled way. As Mercury, your ruler, connects to unpredictable Uranus this weekend, don’t let fear fuel tension. As long as you stay calm and clear-headed, a relationship will strengthen.

LIBRA SEP 24 – OCT 23

Some people don’t really need to speak. We already know what they’re going to say. Or at least, we think we do. But that means that when they talk, we don’t pay attention to what they’re saying. Which means they really don’t need to speak because they won’t be heard. Constructive conversations are based on a readiness to listen, and the willingness to hear something new. Yet, since innovation can be disruptive, we tend to prefer sticking with the familiar. If you take a chance this weekend, it will pay off.

AQUARIUS JAN 21 – FEB 19

Surely none of us ever set out to cause someone else any harm, and if we do, we really shouldn’t. We can only ever expect such a policy to bring us difficulties and hurt. I feel confident that you’d never act out of spite. I have every faith in your kindheartedness. What else could you ever want for someone, other than the best? If you find yourself thinking any surprisingly negative thoughts this weekend, you can rise above them. As long as you act with the best of intentions, a good outcome is guaranteed.

CANCER JUN 23 – JUL 23

Since angels are on the side of the righteous, presumably, at least some of them have to act as judges, determining right from wrong, good from bad, and well intentioned from meanspirited. As the cosmos is seldom black and white, they must have to experience individual situations in order to make a judgment. Since humans don’t have such powers, try to withhold making a decision about someone’s moral values today. You don’t have all of the facts yet, and, when you do, you’ll be glad of your patience.

SCORPIO OCT 24 – NOV 22

Vegans are sick to death of their carnivorous cousins taunting them. If you care so much about how animals feel, why aren’t you bothered about the way that plants feel too? The truth is, they are. We can’t yet tell if plants have feelings; they could, to all intents and purposes, be every bit as emotionally intricate as animals. Yet, there comes a time when we have to draw a line in the sand and simply do our best. As you set out to draw a line this weekend, make sure the people you care about are on the right side of it.

PISCES FEB 20 – MAR 20

Earth. The best planet in the solar system. Or so its seven billion inhabitants think. We could have settled anywhere in this infinite cosmos, so we must have known there was something pretty special about this particular spinning ball of rock. What’s that, you say? This is the only one that sustains life? Next thing you’ll be saying is that none of this has anything to do with choice; that you’re here against your will. But that’s not quite true, is it? This weekend, as life begins to go your way, you’ll remember what you enjoy and appreciate.
