Quarantine hub

-

SANITY seems to have prevailed at last with a dedicated quarantine hub in Victoria.

They have more of every thing in the way of hospitals and health care facilities, to say nothing of the people arriving from all over the world on international flights.

These people don’t need to be flown into Wellcamp and then shuffled all around the country with little interest in Toowoomba.

The opportunity, unfortunately for me, has been to spend a fair bit of time waiting in a medical centre with generally 10 doctors or more and have had the chance to talk to young families, and older folk, waiting patiently for treatment.

Almost every one of them, to a man/ woman, were deadset against a quarantine hub here in Toowoomba. It’s very evident the medicos are flat out.

I was fascinated to see the Premier could find plenty of money to stage a couple of footy games in Queensland for a code that is struggling to maintain crowd interest lately.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that footy (all four codes), cricket, tennis and the Tokyo Olympics are more important than keeping “the Lucky Country” safe, healthy and lucky.

By the way, can anyone tell me how the number of Australians stuck in India has grown from about 6000 to 11,000?

The calls going out from our social welfare people to provide more housing, maybe they will have to wait till after State of Origan to get the Premier’s attention.
