We bring the Olympics from every angle.

- Mick Carroll Olympics Editor

Tokyo 2020 + 1 is the Olympic Games we had to have. After almost two years of Covid chaos and heartbreak, the Games is a timely reminder of what is really important. The Olympics is a celebration of true grit and community. It is at once a place that rewards individual performance but also honors athletes who have a go. And in the context of a worldwide pandemic, to hold the Games now against all odds is a sign of defiance, a unified ‘up yours’ to Covid. The Games will, as always, reveal incredible stories about athletes defying the odds and pushing themselves to go faster and further than anyone has gone before and we will be there to tell you all about it.

A team of 30 journalists, photographers and cameramen from all over the country will be in Tokyo to make sure you don’t miss a thing, day or night. From the sport, its stars and its politics, to the exciting city of Tokyo, and, of course, the issues Covid presents, will all be covered whenever and wherever you need it. It will be wall-to-wall Olympic coverage on our digital sites, in our metropolitan, regional and country newspapers and on our broadcast partners at Fox Sports and Sky News for the 16 days of the Games.

In a year when Covid regulations will restrict access for spectators, our team – one of the biggest in the world on the ground in Tokyo - will be your eyes and ears. The Olympic movement – and the athletes – have worked hard to make the Tokyo Olympics happen and now it’s your job to sit back, enjoy and take it all in.
