“Queensland’s plan for economic recovery has already begun, with the Western Downs benefiting from a $385,000 investment by the Palaszczuk Government through COVID Works for Queensland,” Ms Boyd said.

“The Waterloo Plains Park Upgrade will bring an amazing public space to the community, with benefits starting before it opens with the 29 local jobs construction will deliver.

Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Events and Regional Promotion Councillor Kylie Bourne said Council was actively advancing the region as a tourist destination.

“The Western Downs is home to so many beautiful outdoor landscapes and friendly people and we’re committed to investing in projects to raise our profile as a visitor destination and ultimately boost our local economy,” Cr Bourne said.

“Waterloo Plain Environmental Park is a stunning recreational space that is muchloved in the local community, and these upgrades are about enhancing the facilities and enticing more people to visit Wandoan.

“It’s the perfect spot to set up camp for a few days, marvel at the native wildlife, connect with family and friends, and be a part of our welcoming community, and I encourage everyone to stop in to explore the area, as well as other fantastic tourist sites in Wandoan.”
