NATALIE’S BACKYARD BUCKET LIST

Popular television host and proud Queenslander, Natalie Gruzlewski, tells us about the Queensland experiences she’s keen to tick off her bucket list this year

Leap out of a helicopter GOLD COAST

As a bit of a thrill seeker, I was so excited to hear about the new heliskydiving experience available on the Gold Coast with Skydive Australia. Instead of jumping out of a plane, this experience takes adventure to a new level as you throw yourself off a hovering helicopter platform and hurtle towards the beach. I can only imagine how good the views are from 3000m above the Gold Coast.

Go eco-glamping SUNSHINE COAST

I’m hanging to try glamping. I love sustainable tourism ventures like Habitat Noosa. This lush retreat offers stunning lakeside views and has all the creature comforts I need for a stay with my family. This is the perfect place to explore nature and befriend the local kangaroos.

European Masterpieces at QAGOMA

BRISBANE

I love to soak up art and culture with a weekend getaway to Brisbane. I am particularly keen to see the European Masterpieces exhibition currently on at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), followed by soaking up the atmosphere, along with great food and wine, at the Fish

Lane arts precinct.

Picnic on Whitehaven Beach WHITSUNDAYS

I’ve got my sights set on taking a picnic on

Whitehaven Beach. With the opportunity to arrive by seaplane, I can’t wait to take in the beautiful Whitsundays from the air, before landing right on the pristine white sand for a romantic lunch.

Connect with Indigenous culture DAINTREE RAINFOREST

I’m excited about the chance to connect with Indigenous culture and learn more about the history of our First People’s. There are so many amazing experiences across Queensland, and one that really inspires me is Walkabout Cultural Adventures in the Daintree. The Kuku Yalanji people share their connection to the land by taking you on a tour of the rainforest, where you will learn about traditional medicine, sample bush tucker, collect shellfish and also try your hand at traditional hunting practices.

Swim in Lake McKenzie FRASER ISLAND

I can’t wait to hit up Fraser Island. I’ve always dreamt of swimming in the turquoise waters of gorgeous Lake McKenzie. And I’d love to explore the island by four-wheel drive with a local K’gari guide.

Indulge in serious spa time PALM COVE

Queensland has some of the country’s best day spas like the Lost World Day Spa at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat. The next spa experiences on my list are two of Palm Cove’s finest at The Reef House and Alamanda … who can resist world-class spa treatments in the heart of paradise?
