UNITED 93 (M) STAN or RENT ★★★★★

-

With the 20th anniversary looming for the infamous 9/11 attacks upon New York City, here is where you can swiftly stream the best movies dealing with one of the worst moments in recent world history …

WORLD TRADE CENTER (M) BINGE or RENT ★★★★

This punishing, awe-inspiring drama tackles its difficult objective by narrowing the story to the experiences of two Port Authority policemen trapped beneath the rubble of the iconic Twin Towers after their terrifying collapse. Does justice to this significant and lastingly tragic event by resisting the urge to deliver a final verdict on how or why it happened. Stars Nicolas Cage, Michael Pena.

A sobering re-creation of events aboard the final plane hijacked by Islamic terrorists during the Al-Qaeda attacks on September 11. There are no stars in the cast. No melodramatic grandstanding. Just what happened, according to the best verifiable information available. In an interesting move, producers cast a number of actual participants in the drama on the ground (air traffic controllers, military personnel) as themselves.

REIGN OVER ME (M) RENT only ★★★★

Upon losing his family in the 9/11 attacks, a former dentist (Adam Sandler) goes into an intense state of denial. After a chance encounter with an old friend (Don Cheadle), the hurt begins to subside and the healing process slowly begins. An unusual, but highly involving blend of testing drama and subtly challenging comedy. The skill and restraint underpinning the performances of the two leads are the key here.
