COASTAL DRIVE HOLIDAY

Enjoy a seven-day drive holiday from South East Queensland to the Southern Great Barrier Reef and Town of 1770 before returning home from an 1150km round trip

DAY ONE: Depart Brisbane, Sunshine Coast or the Gold Coast for Rainbow Beach (three hours). Explore Rainbow and Carlo Sandblow, a unique moonscape sand mass covering more than 15ha. Overnight at Rainbow Beach.

DAY TWO: Rainbow Beach to Bundaberg (2.5 hours). See the Hinkler Hall of Aviation themed around the adventures and achievemen­ts of local pioneer solo aviator Bert Hinkler, taste test Kalki Moon and its gins, vodkas and liqueurs and eat at Grunskis by the River. Overnight Bundaberg or Bargara.

DAY THREE: Enjoy a Lady Musgrave Experience and explore Lady Musgrave Island from Bundaberg. Overnight Bundaberg or at Splitters Farm for those with children.

DAY FOUR: Bundaberg to Town of 1770 (90 minutes). Walk the headland, enjoy a sunset Larc Tour by boarding an amphibious boat for a tour across beaches and estuaries to Bustard Head Lighthouse (pictured), or just relax.

DAY FIVE: Town of 1770 and Agnes Water. Coffee at Agnes Water Caravan Park and swim.

DAY SIX: Town of 1770 to Hervey Bay (three hours). Take an afternoon whale watching tour or Hervey Bay Eco Marine Tours for an insight into Indigenous people. Dine at Eat at Dan and Stephs, the family-owned business created by Dan and Steph Mulheron, winners of season four of My Kitchen Rules in 2013. Overnight at Hervey Bay.

DAY SEVEN: Return south via Maryboroug­h (30 minutes) stopping for a historic tour of the quaint town centre or a Mary Poppins tour and then home to Brisbane (three hours).
