BLOOMING BEAUT FESTIVAL KICKS OFF

DELICIOUS food won’t be the only attraction people can expect at Queens Park

this weekend, with live music headlining the three-day feast of food, wine and song.

TOOWOOMBA independent brewer 4 Brothers is ready to celebrate the Carnival of Flowers the only way it knows how: with a special blossom beer.

The past four years the crew has brewed up a special beer for the Festival of Food and Wine, and after Covid forced the cancellation of last year’s event owner and brewer Adrian Cubit said this year’s brew had to be special.

Using the orange blossom as inspiration, the end result was an Orange Blossom Blonde Ale that would be

available exclusively at its pop-up bar and Margaret Street taphouse.

“For the past four years we’ve brewed floral inspired beers for the Carnival of Flowers but this year this is the first time we’ve got a popup bar in the beer garden at the Festival of Food and Wine,” Mr Cubit said.

“This year we decided to go with the orange blossom as our flower inspiration. It’s used quite a bit in cooking and baking so we thought we’d try and put it in a beer.”

The end result was a easydrinking, light flavoured beer that Mr Cubit said would go

down a treat while enjoying the music and entertainment on show.

“We’re hoping that everyone is thirsty this weekend,” he said.

“The Carnival of Flowers is a fantastic tourism initiative, and while it was disappointing that last year’s event got cancelled we’ve been lucky in Toowoomba with lockdowns so it’s great that we can have this event.”

Floral beer and delicious food won’t be the only attractions people can expect at Queens Park this weekend.

Headlining the three-day feast of food, wine and music

on Saturday night are legendary music makers Brian Cadd and Russell Morris.

They will perform an epic tribute to Australian rock featuring anthems like The Real Thing, Wings of An Eagle, A Little Ray of Sunshine, in what will be a lifetime of music in one extraordinary night.

Then on Sunday, Queensland music makers Busby Marou and Xavier Rudd will close out the festival.

The three day line-up stars 18 incredible bands and also features The Dreggs, Toowoomba indie-pop star Maggie Elyse and locals Fenny

and the Mets.

“It’s with great excitement that we can announce the updated all Queensland line-up for the Festival of Food and Wine, to be held from September 10 to 12 in Queens Park,” Toowoomba Regional Council environment and community services committee chair James O’Shea said.

“This year we are excited to welcome incredible Queensland music makers who have created some of our country’s music moments, as well as more local musicians than ever before, in a wonderful three days of celebration,” he said.
