- JESSICA PAUL

FAMILY and friends of Seamus Ryan will pay tribute to the young man at a service on Thursday.

The 20-year-old tragically died after suffering a seizure in his sleep in the early hours of August 31.

Parents Brendan and Sharon Ryan said they wanted Seamus to be remembered for his kindness.

“We’re forever proud of the son we had. He lived a life by his convictions, he lived a life that was rich in faith and full of learning,” they said.

Those attending are asked to bring a photo of Seamus and share their memories.

THE family and friends of Seamus Ryan have invited the community to attend a celebration of life service this week, following the beloved young Warwick man’s sudden death.

The 20-year-old tragically died after suffering a seizure in his sleep in the early hours of August 31.

Family and friends have been invited to Seamus’ memorial on Thursday, September 16 at the Warwick Wolves soccer fields in Queens Park.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a photo of their favourite memory with Seamus to be compiled into a memory board, and will have the opportunity to write down their favourite memory on the day and put it in a box for his family to open on a significant date.

Shocked and devastated parents Brendan and Sharon Ryan said at the time of his death that they wanted to remember their son for his kindness, talent, and dedication to excellence in every aspect of his life.

“We’re forever proud of the son we had. He lived a life by his convictions, he lived a life that was rich in faith and full of learning,” Mr and Mrs Ryan said.

“He knew that he had come into this world with nothing and would leave with nothing except for the love he left behind.”

Seamus also left behind adoring younger sisters Nella and Niamh, who said their big brother would always be their idol and role model.

He’d recently purchased a property with high-school sweetheart and partner of five years, Steph Lockhart.

Messages of grief and support have continued to pour out from those who knew the talented young man in the weeks following his death.

Warwick Wolves Football Association wrote a touching online tribute to Seamus, honouring the former player and his family who were closely involved with the club.

“As the years progressed, Seamus moved from playing football for the Warwick Wolves to spending his Saturday mornings now running the field as a referee for the club,” it read.

“His willingness to learn and give back to the club in this way was just part of Seamus’s generous nature.

“Seamus’s smile and his loveable larrikin nature brought so much to the football community, as it did to the whole Warwick community, and to all of those who had the pleasure of knowing Seamus.”

Hundreds paid tribute in response to the dedication to Seamus earlier this month, saying even the most everyday interaction with the young man left a lasting impression.

“Condolences to Seamus’s family. He was always such a lovely young man when I saw him at the butchers. Always greeted you with a big smile,” Kerry Patterson wrote.

“My condolences and love to Seamus’ family and friends. This is incredibly sad. May you have many loved ones around you to help carry you through this time,” Carla Troon added.

His memorial will begin at 2pm and is expected to be livestreamed via the Burstows Funerals tribute centre.
