TFL’s best players will go head-to-head with SWQ Thunder
FOOTBALL: SWQ Thunder have ruled the regional football roost for years, but they will be need to be on their toes against the TFL Allstars.
A revamped selection process has drawn together the best players Toowoomba football has to offer for the showpiece event.
“Every player is in the TFL Allstars squads on merit,” TFL official Snow Green said.
“I see it as the 40 best players, 20 from the Thunder and 20 from the TFL, from across the region going head to head.
“I think our two teams are the strongest we’ve ever selected.
“The women could argue they should’ve won the last game and this latest side is better than that side.
“The men are looking really good as well.
“The two (male) keepers are particularly good which I think will be very important.”
Now in its third year after a Covid enforced hiatus in 2020, the football match continues to grow in stature and importance.
“The event is getting bigger every year,” Green said.
“It’s not just about the result though.
“More and more people are getting behind the concept because it’s a great way to showcase football in the region.
“Every player wants to test themselves against the best to see where they stand and this is an opportunity for them to do that and at the same time they can show the Thunder what they are capable of.
“In the past a number of players have found their way into the Thunder program off the back of these games.”
