• Why do high rise office buildings in big cities need to be brightly lit all night? Surely lights on top level are enough for aircraft flying over. Another waste of our precious electricity which we are told to restrict our usage.

• What! Big discounts for developers! What a load of pathetic reasons to go ahead with this outrageous and very unfair move. Roads and shopping centres are already chaotic. Trees and valuable vegetation are being destroyed every day to make way for money-making developers egged on by the council. The housing crisis catchcry is a poor excuse to plunder the land. How about a reduction in general rates and abolition of water rates? Next thing we’ll be funding skyrail between Hodgsonvale & Highfields!

• JH, Gvale: A Covid ward in a hospital is essential and completely different from a facility built for people and families to isolate and quarantine if they are positive. If one was to become ill enough, they need to go to a hospital just like any other more seriously ill Covid infection.

• Why are we, the taxpayers, paying the dole to those who don’t, or won’t work. Businesses across Oz are desperately looking for staff. Make them work or cut off their payments.

Val, Toowoomba

Energy crisis. Mr Albanese has been spruiking how he wants a more bipartisan parliament. Well, he needs to stop telling us how bad everything is due to the previous LNP Govt mismanagement and show leadership on bipartisan and get on with governing to show us how the Labor policies are better for all Australians.

DR, Highfields

• Qld government could put new cancer hospital out at Bailey with our new hospital. Would save people from Toowoomba and outback areas having to go to Brisbane and pay big money for accommodation when loved ones are so sick with the disease.

• So now the dust has settled with the federal election, we hear nothing about Garth Hamilton. Obviously he is just hiding in his office and not interested in his electorate! Top Cat, Newtown
