Icons land festival gig
ICONIC Australian acts and rising stars are set to headline three days of music at the Festival of Food and Wine later this year.
Vera Blue, Pseudo Echo and The Whitlams will headline separate nights at one of the signature events of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers from September 9-11.
Cairns-based Greta Stanley will bring her powerful and distinctive voice to the Queens Park stage to open the festival on Friday, followed by Brisbane up-and-comer Jarryd James.
Vera Blue will close Friday night, off the back of sold-out Australian tours and multiple festival sets across the globe.
Saturday will begin with a special tribute to INXS.
INXSIVE is one of the country’s biggest tribute shows for the Australian rockers, performing some of the band’s biggest hits.
The legendary Pseudo Echo will follow, performing from their deep catalogue of seven albums.
The Chantoozies will wrap up the night, with Ally Fowler and Evie von Bibra performing their blend of pop and rock.
Emily Wurramara will kick off the final day of the festival. Originating from Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, the ARIA-nominated artist released an 11-track album called Milyakburra, educating and informing in both English and Anindilyakwa languages.
One of the country’s biggest blues musicians, Ash Grunwald, will continue the tunes on the Sunday, followed by Australian icons The Whitlams.
Their closing set will highlight the 25th anniversary of their album Eternal Nightcap.
The band will play the album in track order, followed by a selection of their greatest hits.
Councillor James O’Shea said the event would welcome “music makers who have created some of our country’s biggest anthems”.
There will be also a selection of local musicians announced on July 13.
Single-day tickets to the festival are $60 for adults.
Concession card holders can buy a ticket for $40, and prices for children range from $10-$15. Children under 2 can enter for free. A three-day ticket for adults is $135.
