Latrell’s X-factor to propel Bunnies

-

SOUTH Sydney has emerged from an indifferent run of form to become a genuine contender for the top four. And according to The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield it is down to one man.

Rothfield believes the influence Mitchell (pictured) has had, upon returning from injury, has turned the club around. Moreover Rothfield has compared his comeback to one of the competition’s greats.

“Don’t they, it’s incredible,” Rothfield replied on Sky Racing’s Big Sports Breakfast when asked about the Rabbitohs’ improvement since Mitchell’s return.

“What about the energy he’s given this football side since he returned it’s just quite extraordinary.

“We spoke about the influence that Tom Turbo has on that Manly-Warringah side, Latrell’s the same with Souths, exactly the same.

“After a shaky start they completely demolished the Knights on the weekend and this is without Damien Cook, Alex Johnston was a late withdrawal and Jai Arrow of course who’s in the Queensland Origin side.

“I thought they were just terrific I really do, they lost Lachlan Ilias early on first set of the game so they were without their halfback.”

Following a convincing win over the Eels in Round 16 and cruising past the Knights on Friday night, Rothfield has tipped the Rabbitohs as contenders in 2022.

“I have a feeling that Souths are going to continue winning football games and possibly make the top four,” he said.

“Melbourne look like they’re on the decline, but I think Souths in a few weeks we could be talking about them as the major threat to Penrith from what we’re seeing.

“They’re going to be hard to beat in the run home, I really do think so.”

Following two wins on the trot, the Bunnies will be eager to make it three when they take on the Bulldogs on Sunday at Accor Stadium.
