Newest kid on the block

BRINGING beautiful things to the region has always been a passion for Hayley Bonomi, so when the opportunity came to open her own boutique, she was all too eager to jump at it.

It’s been a busy year for the new business owner who opened her Humphrey and Lulu Boutique at the renowned Nolan’s Block emporium last month.

The fashion lover who has been a milliner for the past decade said being part of the thriving Crows Nest block was very special.

“We used to eat at Emeraude in Hampton all the time, so when we heard Amanda was opening a patisserie and restaurant, we knew it would be a great opportunity,” she said.

“Everything in the store is a little bit unique, but we’ve also tried to bring a little bit of fun, colour and style into all our products.”

Selling a range of stunning homewares, furniture pieces, clothing, accessories and of course her own handmade headwear pieces, Ms Bonomi said her stock catered for special occasions as well as those who just felt like treating themselves.

The mum-of-three who also works as a nurse in Toowoomba, said her millinery passion and the boutique allowed her to express her creativity and escape from her otherwise busy lifestyle.

As for the unique name, Ms Bonomi said the boutique was named after her two loveable pet labradoodles.

“We’ve had Humphrey and Lulu since before (my husband and I) were married and we really wanted a fun, catchy name,” she said.

“Although we do also have our three gorgeous children now and our seven-year-old is less than impressed that his name isn’t up there too.”

Proving to be one of the region’s newest and top hot spots, the Nolan’s Block precinct has also become a prime target for tourists.

The boutique is currently the region’s only stockist of independent Australian fashion labels La Camisa and Bohemian Traders.

Furniture pieces from Wisteria Designs, James Stewart and The Gallery are also available to purchase in store.

The boutique is at Nolan’s Block, at 1 Thallon St, Crows Nest.

Trading hours are Thursday to Saturday, from 9am to 4pm.
