Thrilling conclusion awaits for pacing stars

- BRENDAN PARNELL RACING QUEENSLAND CEO

THE TAB Queensland Constellations is set to reach a thrilling conclusion on Saturday night with the running of the Group 1 Blacks A Fake.

As Queensland’s only Grand Circuit event, the eyes of the harness world will be firmly focused on Albion Park as Australasia’s best pacers battle it out in another tantalising edition of the $350,000 feature.

In recent years, Colt Thirty One, King Of Swing and Amazing Dream have etched their names on to the winners’ list and this year’s field looks just as impressive.

While the TAB Blacks A Fake is understandably the headline act, the meeting boasts a further three Group 1s with the Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks and the Queensland Trotters Cup all set to be run.

The Group 3 JC McMullen and the Listed Queen of Hearts Pace round out an incredible card.

Having firmly entrenched itself as harness racing’s premier winter carnival, the Constellations has once again shone this year with Ladies In Red breathtaking in The Rising Sun and Better Eclipse also turning heads in Saturday’s Sunshine Sprint.

There is more to look forward to on the horizon with the return of the Inter Dominion in 2023 – Australasia’s premier harness racing event – marking the first time the time-honoured series has been held in Queensland since 2009.

With planning for a new state-of-the-art harness centre also well under way, there is a lot to look forward to in the Sunshine State.

For those unable to be trackside on Saturday night, the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Blacks A Fake has never been better.

The Seven Network will continue their coverage via 7 Plus, while Sky Racing Active viewers will be able to switch between two alternate feeds including a dedicated drone channel.

With the harness code continuing to serve at the cutting edge of broadcast innovation, the dedicated drone channel is the latest enhancement for the Constellations and has been warmly received since being unveiled during The Rising Sun.

Good luck to those chasing Group 1 glory and I hope to see you at Albion Park for an incredible night of pacing.
