Show to transform tradition of dance
HE’S been crowned the World Irish Dance Champion for three consecutive years and now Liam Costello will showcase his talent on the Toowoomba stage.
The reigning world titleholder stars alongside 19 Australian cast members in Irish dance rock show Eireborne.
As part of the national tour, the critically-acclaimed production will feature at the Empire Theatre on Thursday.
“It will be my first time in Toowoomba and I’m really excited to be performing at the Empire Theatre,” Mr Costello said.
“To be back on Australian soil and able to bring this show to my home country and where my dancing journey first began is pretty incredible.”
Described as Irish dancing with a twist, the talented performer said audience members should “expect the unexpected.”
He said audience members with Irish heritage would connect deeply with the show, but it would create an unforgettable experience for everyone due to its contemporary theme.
“Eireborne is such a unique concept and it’s really going to revolutionise the art of Irish dance,” Mr Costello said.
“It’s really moved away from what we consider Irish dance to be and the traditional river dance and the show combines Irish with tap, contemporary and ballroom dance.”
A live band will coincide with the choreography, featuring hits from U2, Enya, The Cranberries and Van Morrison, among others.
Dancing since he was fiveyears-old, the world champ said he fell in love with Irish dance because of the strength and flexibility involved.
In Toowoomba for one show only, Eireborne will be performed live at the Empire Theatre on Thursday, August 11, at 7.30pm.
The show runs for about one hour and 50 minutes. Tickets can be purchased online at mellenevents.com.au
