• Regarding the Quarantine facility at Wellcamp. No mention of all the jobs lost and the people now out of work during a rental crisis and interest rate hikes. No sympathy for their plight from those screaming to close it down.

• Miffed, Tba TC 5 Aug. I agree totally with you over Lidia Thorpe and we are supposed to be one nation.

DR, Hflds

• John Billingsley what a good analogy for the Wellcamp Facility. I liken to a Fire Station as well. Having some workers there at all times, ready to take an influx from any sort of disaster.

• To DR of 5/8: you constantly complain of the new Fed Govt. Just remember they have to clean up what was left after bad governing of the past 10 years and the ALP have been in for 2 1/2 months. You are part of this problem that they have been left with as YOU were one of those voters who voted that disorganised LNP in. Yes they should have know but they were left a lot of lying of what the LNP had not done. So chin up, things will get better but will take time. Just be glad you live in Australia and not Russia or China.

• When meter parking starts in the CBD, it will almost empty the centre of town. The elderly will not want to walk to find a pay station, then be confused how to pay. I feel sorry for the business owners, some won’t survive. I have many friends who have not travelled and parked in the CBD for many, many years. It’s just too hard to find a park.

Beau, Toowoomba

• I couldn’t agree more with the letter from Ray Harch, Chronicle 1st August regarding penalties for crime.
