TOOWOOMBA is full of fun events with something for every member of the family to enjoy.

From the highly-anticipate­d Grand Central Floral Parade, to the Murphys Creek Chilli Festival, here are just some of the great things on in the Darling Downs this weekend.

1. Weetwood Cup

Get dressed up and place your bets at the Weetwood Cup on Saturday where the top racehorses will take to the track to compete for the more than $600,000 worth of prize money up for grabs.

The introducto­ry event to Queensland’s Spring Racing Carnival, Clifford Park will be the hub of all things racing and fashion this weekend.

General admission tickets can be purchased online with pricing starting at $25 and going up to $40.

2. Cinema Under The Stars

Watch both a movie and the stars at this outdoor cinematic experience at Newton Park on Saturday night.

Grab a picnic blanket, warm clothes and your friends to watch a double feature that both kids and adults can enjoy.

At 6:30pm the outdoor cinema will screen environmen­tal kids film classic Fern Gully and 90s romcom starring Aussie legend Heath Ledger 10 Things I Hate About You.

3. Picnic In The Gardens

Soak up the spirit of the Carnival of Flowers before it ends this month with a picnic outdoors boasting live music, food vans, local produce and cocktails.

The picturesqu­e High Country Hamlets will host the event on Sunday from noon, with limited tickets available online.

All you need is a picnic blanket or something to sit on and you’ll be set for a true garden experience.

4. The Hanging Gardens of Cobb & Co

To celebrate the 2022 Carnival of Flowers, the Cobb & Co Museum will present floral hanging baskets with an arts and crafts difference.

More than 40 beautiful and original hanging baskets will be on display, from a range of categories.

Visitors can vote for People’s Choice best hanging basket. An outdoor seating area abuts the hanging baskets so visitors can relax and admire the work.

The baskets will be on display all weekend.

5. Redwood Park Open Day

Friends of Escarpment Parks Toowoomba invites the public to join a day of outdoor discoverer at the pristine Redwood Park on Saturday.

The day starts with a bird discovery walk from 7.30am followed by displays and talk from a range of local birdlife expert from 9.30am.

There will be a guided bushwalk from 9am and for those looking for something cooler, check out the nocturnal spotlight from 7pm.

All activities start at the Bernays Picnic Area, enter off Toowoomba Connection Road.

6. Greemount bike show

Petrol heads are invited to the Greenmount Bike Show on Saturday to eye off some of the best two-wheeled machines in the district.

There will be a range of prizes on offer, including for best rat bike, American bike, European bike, English bike, Asian Bike and vintage Bike.

Set up starts at 8am and the show will be open for viewing from 10am at the Greenmount Memorial Hall in Ramsay Street.

7. Teddy Bear Picnic Bring your youngins’ and their favourite cuddly companion to Picnic Point on Saturday for the annual Teddy Bears Picnic.

The fun-filled frolic runs from 811.30am at Heller Park via Robotham Street.

8. Artists’ talk

Jeanne Cotter, Liisa Gosper and Rosemary Williamson will discuss their work at the Rosalie Art Gallery in Goombungee on Saturday.

Admission is free.

Bring a friend, enjoy a nice drive out on the country and learn about the artists’ practice.

The session runs from 1.30am3.30pm.

9. Makers Market

Hundreds of artisans from across Southern Queensland will be selling their work at the Maker’s Market in the Mills Precinct from 8am-1pm on Sunday.

There will be live music, face painting, food trucks and nothing but the best in market stalls.

Bring the family for a morning out.

10. Cabarlah Markets

This village market has been running for 28 year in the forested, rolling hills of Cabarlah.

Take a drive out with your friends and family, sample the sweet country air and pick up something cute.

The markets run from 7.30am12.30pm on Sunday.
