JimB C Hts, not sure how u can claim Covid is no more harmful than common flu. Thousands are presenting with long lasting impacts, it may be years before true impact is known. I know that I recovered from Hong Kong flu much more quickly than Covid. It’s been more than four months, I’m still experiencing some unpleasant side effects. Australia’s response saved many thousands. I doubt too many of us would have said that it was okay to let it rip through society literally decimating seniors and those with compromised immune systems. Ask relatives of the deceased in the US what they think. GH P’ton

There is constant and continuing worry about increasing gambling addiction. Yet the Melbourne Cup is widely promoted, and now it is a whole Racing Week. Examine how many millions of dollars are poured into something with little or no results. Dollars which don’t buy food or clothes for poor kids. Amy, Toowoomba
