TOOWOOMBA is full of fun events with something for every member of the family to enjoy.

From the Jacaranda Day Festival to open studio trails, to concerts and Diwali celebratio­ns, here are just some of the great things happening in the Darling Downs this weekend. 1. Jacaranda Day Festival Celebrate the beauty of the famed violet trees blooming across the region in this annual festival featuring a parade, markets, family activities and a gallery in honour of the purple plant.

Promising free family fun, the festival will have culture critics engaged with exhibition­s from local artists and little ones entertaine­d with jumping castles and face paints.

The adventurou­s can enjoy trike tours and the vintage parade featuring old vehicles and a brass band is sure to be the event’s showstoppe­r.

Jacaranda Day festivitie­s will take place on Saturday from 8am along Mocatta Street.

2. Condamine Country Art and Open Studio Trail

Artists and collective­s will open up their home studios to the public, allowing locals and visitors to explore the art scene of Condamine Country.

This intimate curated studio tour will be complement­ed by exhibition­s in the area including the at the Warwick Gallery and encourages attendees to explore the towns scattered across the region.

The tour will take place on Saturday and Sunday, open times for individual studios can be found on the event’s website.

3. Bollywood Diwali Bonanza Toowoomba

Get immersed in the glitz and glamour of India’s biggest cultural holiday in this one night only spectacula­r offering a night of music and dance in celebratio­n of Diwali.

This live music concert will feature Indian, multilingu­al and English performanc­es, DJ’s and a dance floor along with food stalls dishing up authentic cuisine.

The event will be held on Saturday from 5pm at Caldwell Performing Arts Centre, tickets must be purchased online with prices ranging from $2-$12.

4. Love Sermon

Spend an evening with writer Clementine Ford and musician Libby O’Donovan and explore the intricacie­s of love in this emotional sermon that promises audience members laughs and tears.

Initially developed for the Sydney Opera House’s All About Women Festival, this showcase will explore unrequited romance, deep friendship, motherhood, breakups and self-love.

The talk will take place at Empire Church Theatre on Saturday at 7.30pm, tickets can be purchased online for $49.50.

5. Dine in the Vines

Graze and sip with loved ones at a private table among the vines of Rosalie’s House, a charming

mainstay venue and restaurant no stranger to hosting dining parties.

This intimate dining experience will offer wine-tasting, a seasonal menu, a private tour of the vineyard and transport home for Toowoomba locals.

The event will be held on Saturday night, tickets and times can be booked online.

6. Toowoomba Physie and Dance Concert

View the hard work of the dancers at Toowoomba Physie and Dance at the group’s club competitio­n and presentati­on day.

Physie athletes will grace the stage to showcase their sport which combines elements of modern dance, ballet, pilates and gymnastics.

The concert will be held at the Armitage Centre at noon on Saturday, entry is free for children under three and tickets can be purchased online for $10.

7. Crows Nest Markets

Start November off with a caffeine hit and pastry in hand at this market favourite open only on the first Sunday of each month.

Browse stalls of baked goods, plants, local produce and much more located less than 40 minutes away from Toowoomba

The market will be held at Crows Nest Community Hub from 8am to 1pm.

8. Rebel FM’s Moustache Ride Darling Downs

Motorcycli­sts will ride around the region to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Watch on or ride along at this event for a good cause with raffles and an afterparty to follow.

The ride will take place on Saturday at 9am starting at Darling Downs Harley Davidson, with a $20 ride fee.

9. Glass Art Workshops

Create beautiful windows and twodimensi­onal glass artworks by learning the craft of lead lighting and copper foiling in a workshop hosted by an acclaimed glass artist.

Richard Apel, who has public art commission­s including a stainedgla­ss window at a hospital in Brisbane under his belt, will impart his tips and tricks to Toowoomba artists in this all-day session.

The workshop will run out of Cobb and Co on Saturday and Sunday; sign up to the waitlist for the in-demand workshop at the museum’s website.

10. Olives, Llamas and Limes Book into this unique experience combining a strange trio of Olives, Llamas and Limes hosted by transport and tour company Discovery Coaches.

This tour will take ticket holders to Watercress Creek Olives and Lime Farm then move to the state’s largest llama farm.

This experience will take place on Saturday.
