Since today marks the anniversary of Napoleon overthrowing the French government, I thought I’d share a joke I wrote: why did the army stop using carrier pigeons? They’d heard whispers of a coo! The fact that I can’t hear you laughing doesn’t make it unfunny, but when I tell this to people in person, they don’t always collapse with laughter either. We can’t force people to respond to us in the way we want them to. Yet, following the Lunar Eclipse, gentle but firm persuasion will work wonders.

ARIES MAR 21 – APR 20

Although being stranded in a desert might not be an ideal scenario, there’s always the hope of seeing a mirage. Imaginary oases serve a vital psychological function. They offer hope. As long as we think we’re heading towards one, we’ll dig deep, and find the extra boost of willpower necessary to keep going. You might be wondering whether your current destination is real right now. It’s certainly shimmering on the horizon. But the legacy of the Lunar Eclipse brings confirmation that what you’re heading towards is real. Keep going.

Mon amie. Minha amiga. The words might be different, but the meaning’s the same. Friendship has a way of transcending language. A helping hand, a warm smile — these could no more be misunderstood in the depths of the Amazon than on the streets of London. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself on the receiving end of an act of generosity today. As someone who’s more used to giving than to receiving, this might feel disconcerting, but if you’re generous in your acceptance, a surprising friendship could develop.

SAGITTARIUS NOV 23 – DEC 21

Good musicians know that a great performance demands a delicate balancing act. They need to focus enough on the music to know what to play, but not overly focus, or their mind overrides their muscle memory. If they concentrate too much, they start to question what their fingers naturally want to do and they lose their flow. The lingering legacy of the Lunar Eclipse empowers you with the skills to create something beautiful now, but you’re at your best when you improvise. Allow yourself the space to be creative.

TAURUS APR 21 – MAY 21

How well are things going to work out? Very pleasingly. How close will you get to fulfilling a dream? Closer than you imagine. How much do you need to be concerned about? Not as much as you think. Sometimes, you can be your own worst enemy. You make wise choices and then spend ages wondering whether you made the wrong choice. When things start moving in the right direction, you consider heading towards a different destination. Following the Lunar Eclipse, stop self-questioning and accept what’s unfolding. It’s good.

VIRGO AUG 24 – SEP 23

Commonsense is less common than we think. But then normal life isn’t particularly normal. We use our personal experiences as reference points. We compare ourselves to one another, and decide that if something’s good enough for someone else, it’s good enough for us. If it really is good enough, that’s good enough. But a lot of the time people don’t do what’s good for them, and if we copy their habits, before you know it, none of us will be happy. Find the courage to dare to be different today. That makes real sense.

CAPRICORN DEC 22 – JAN 20

You’ve got broad shoulders. You can carry many weights and burdens, not all of which are your own. You’re generous with your time and resources. People know this, and, although they appreciate your help, they often tend to rely on your willingness to assist. Sometimes they even factor it into their plans. It’s worth checking on what’s motivating you now. Just be sure that you’re helping someone because they need your help (rather than because you need to be needed). If you have clarity, you’ll be even more helpful.

GEMINI MAY 22 – JUN 22

Life’s a journey, people often say. If it’s true, how are we supposed to know what to pack for the trip? How many pairs of socks would you need? Do you need smart shoes as well as walking boots? What about flip flops? Clearly, it would be impossible to prepare for every scenario. If you had to carry every item necessary to deal with all the twists and turns of life’s journey, you wouldn’t be able to move. Really, all you need to have with you is your ability to adapt, which will enable you to do very well today.

LIBRA SEP 24 – OCT 23

Can giving people what they want ever be a bad thing? Isn’t it the embodiment of selfless generosity? Even in difficult circumstances, when they voice their desires in unpleasant ways, isn’t there a certain smug pleasure in smilingly fulfilling their requests, rather than putting obstacles in their path and trying to teach them a lesson? Unless, of course, they actually want to be denied, in which case you won’t be helping them. If you can’t work out what’s in someone’s best interests today, kindness is the best policy to follow.

AQUARIUS JAN 21 – FEB 19

Communication, they say, is the key to good friendships and, of course, to personal relationships. In fact any dynamic that involves people working successfully together must, by definition, be based on it. But you don’t need me to tell you that. As an Aquarian, you’re very aware of the importance of being able to articulate your reasoning and views. But there are times when we all find it hard to speak from the heart – it makes us vulnerable. Know that your feelings are valid, and don’t shy away from being honest today.

CANCER JUN 23 – JUL 23

”Thinking outside the box” is one of those phrases used in the world of corporate finance and advertising. But if people really did this, they’d probably realise that there were better ways to spend their time, and leave their jobs. We need to be in the right psychological environment to be able to be creative and spontaneous. Although we often say that we want our lives to be different, the idea of change is scary. The legacy of the Lunar Eclipse brings a chance for change. How much depends on you, and how courageous you feel.

SCORPIO OCT 24 – NOV 22

Baffled? If you’re not, you should be! Disconcerted? Let’s hope so. Following the Lunar Eclipse in your opposite sign, linked with Venus (which continues its journey through Scorpio) if you’re not confused, then you’re full of desire and deep conviction. In which case, you need to be careful. It’s a cosmic cocktail that could potentially lead to a little craziness. It suggests that fun and magic are available. If you make your objective to be as loving, happy and forgiving as you can be, you don’t need to sort anything out. Just enjoy.

PISCES FEB 20 – MAR 20

We love composing complex arguments and creating convoluted explanations. We like making things seem difficult. We like having lots of reasons why problems can’t be solved. We’re good at talking (and not so good at listening). We hold onto grudges and find it difficult to let go, and forgive. But, just because that’s what we tend to do, doesn’t mean you have to act that way. In your world right now, if you show some patience and understanding, you can move on from a past problem and find satisfaction.
