Another interesting article by Tim Blair on the mid term elections in America (TC, 15/11). He is certainly not related to the Tony Blair of Great Britain. His opinion failed to mention the word Trump as an issue in the success of the Democrats.

I think our mayor should take off his rose-coloured glasses and drive around our “Garden City” to see the grass growing through fences, shopping trolleys everywhere, grass on the James Street median strip not cut in months, creeks overgrown with weeds now becoming bushes but avoid the potholes. When I came here in ‘72 it was the “Garden City”.

Recently saw a brilliant comment on the alleged war on Christmas, suggesting Christmas ought to stop holding November hostage.

Frankly I am only sick of the crass commercialisation of various festivals. The blatant emotional blackmail to spend massive amounts of money.
