FOXTEL ISLAND FOR SALE

-

A PRIVATE island on the Gold Coast is up for grabs – but there’s a catch.

Foxwell Island, acquired by development giant Stockland as part of a larger $40 million riverfront holding, has been listed for sale by Kollosche agents Brad Coyne and Marco De Vincentiis.

But inspecting your potential unspoilt oasis could prove challenging.

The listing states Foxwell Island is “currently only accessible from the water or air” – however, with no pontoon or landing pad in place, that would require wading through mud flats.

The vacant 10.12 hectare island located within the Coomera River between Hope Island and mainland Coomera is one of only nine freehold islands in Queensland, and is marketed via an expressions of interest campaign closing December 12.

Mr Coyne said laying claim to a private island was now achievable for buyers wishing to be in the league of Virgin billionaire, Richard Brandon, owner of the heart-shaped Makepeace Island off the Sunshine Coast.

“On Foxwell Island you could build a grand two-storey home or explore, subject to council approval, a venture in nature-based tourism, sport and recreation, agriculture or the marine industry,” he said.

Seven inquiries had been received within 24 hours of listing the rural-zoned holding, Mr Coyne said.

“We’ve got a lot of high net worth clients, and generally a lot of wealthy people in and around that Sanctuary Cove area that would potentially consider it,” he said.

“It might be someone who wants to put a premium property there and be able to say they own an island, or it might be someone with a longer game plan who buys it and landbanks.

“It’s a great location — you’re only 150m to the Gold Coast Marine Precinct, but it is very secluded and very private and the logistics of accessing the island are still to be confirmed at this stage,” Mr Coyne said.
